Big block
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000547
An informal classification for a large-displacement V8 engine, distinguished by the physical size of its engine block and wider bore spacing compared to a small-block engine from the same manufacturer. This design allows for larger cylinder bores and longer strokes, enabling greater displacement and power potential. Big-block engines from the classic muscle car era typically had displacements exceeding 6.6 liters (400 cubic inches).
