Black-letter

A style of typeface characterized by its heavy, angular strokes and condensed appearance, reminiscent of medieval manuscript writing. This script was prevalent in Europe from the 12th to the 17th centuries and was the first type style used with the invention of the printing press. Fraktur is a well-known example of a black-letter typeface.
