Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000747
A printing defect where ink spreads irregularly from the edges of a printed character or graphic element, creating a fuzzy or spidery appearance. This issue is often caused by excessive printing pressure, low ink viscosity, or the use of a highly absorbent substrate that allows the ink to wick outwards. It is visually distinct from dot gain, which is a more uniform enlargement of halftone dots.
