Incut
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003003
Describing a note, heading or illustration set into a space cut out of the text block, rather than placed in the outer margin; also the item so set. An incut note, for example, sits in a gap at the side of the column, and the lines of text beside it are shortened to make room. It contrasts with a marginal note, which stands in the margin outside the text block.
