Coronis
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001358
A typographical symbol used in ancient Greek manuscripts to mark the end of a major section of a text, such as the end of a book or a complete poem. It was typically a curved or elaborate line, sometimes incorporating flourishes or bird-like shapes, placed in the margin. The coronis is a historical scribal mark and is not used in modern industrial printing, though it is studied in paleography and the history of typography.
