Builder's remedy

A legal doctrine in some jurisdictions that allows a developer to bypass local zoning ordinances if a municipality has failed to meet its affordable housing obligations. This remedy permits the construction of housing projects, often with a percentage of affordable units, even if they do not conform to existing zoning. It aims to encourage the development of affordable housing.
