Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001182

A method for controlling the rotation speed of a disk, short for Constant Linear Velocity, to maintain a steady rate of data transfer as a read/write head moves across the surface. To achieve this, the disk's angular velocity is adjusted, spinning faster when the head is near the center and slower when it is at the outer edge. This technique contrasts with Constant Angular Velocity (CAV), where the disk spins at a fixed number of revolutions per minute.
