Airy disk
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000150
The central bright spot in the diffraction pattern of a point source of light passing through a circular aperture. This disk represents the smallest spot to which a lens can focus light, limited by diffraction rather than aberrations. Its angular radius is given by 1.22 times the ratio of the wavelength to the aperture diameter.
