Flywheel
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002378
A heavy rotating disk used to store rotational energy and smooth out variations in angular velocity in a mechanical system. It resists changes in speed, providing a more uniform output from intermittent power sources like internal combustion engines. Flywheels are characterized by their moment of inertia, which determines their energy storage capacity.
