Flyweight

A small, pivoted mass in a centrifugal governor or similar mechanism that moves outward due to centrifugal force as rotational speed increases. This outward movement is then used to actuate a control linkage, regulating engine speed or other parameters. Flyweights are a key component in mechanical speed governors.
