Spin
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005525
To rotate an object rapidly around its own axis, or the resulting rotational motion itself. In manufacturing, this action is applied in processes like spin welding, where friction from high-speed rotation generates heat to join plastic parts, and spin coating, which uses centrifugal force to create a thin, uniform layer of material. The rotational speed, measured in revolutions per minute (RPM), is a primary process parameter controlled to achieve desired results.
