Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001779
A thin, flat strip of metal, plastic, or composite material used to scrape excess liquid, such as ink or coating, from a roller or surface in printing and coating processes. It presses against a rotating cylinder at a precise angle and pressure to leave a uniform, metered film of material on the roll before it is transferred to the substrate. Doctor blades are consumable parts that wear over time and require regular replacement.
