Inerter
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003014
A mechanical device used in vehicle suspension systems that generates a force proportional to the relative acceleration between its two terminals. It functions by converting linear motion into rotational motion of an internal flywheel, thereby mimicking the effect of an inertial mass. Inerters are characterized by their inertance, measured in kilograms.
