Newton's second law

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003887

A fundamental principle of classical mechanics stating that the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting upon it and inversely proportional to its mass. The direction of the acceleration is the same as the direction of the net force. This relationship is mathematically expressed as F = ma, where F is force, m is mass, and a is acceleration.
