Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004533
The mechanical device that generates thrust to move an aircraft through the air, such as a propeller or a ducted fan. It functions by accelerating a mass of air rearward, creating a reactive force in the forward direction according to Newton's third law. A propulsor is distinguished from the engine, which is the power source that drives it; for example, a turboprop engine drives a propeller propulsor.
