Newton's third law
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003888
A fundamental principle of classical mechanics stating that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object simultaneously exerts a force equal in magnitude and opposite in direction on the first object. This law explains phenomena such as rocket propulsion and the recoil of a firearm.
