Force pair
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002399
Two forces of equal size and opposite direction that two interacting bodies exert on each other, as described by Newton's third law. Each force acts on a different body, so the pair does not cancel, and each body accelerates according to the net force on it alone. A book pressing down on a table, for example, is paired with the table pushing up on the book.
