Forced induction
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002400
The process of increasing the pressure, and thus the density, of air entering an internal combustion engine's cylinders, resulting in more power output. This is achieved using a compressor, such as a turbocharger or supercharger, which forces more air into the engine than atmospheric pressure alone would allow. Forced induction engines typically produce higher horsepower and torque compared to naturally aspirated engines of the same displacement.
