Triger process
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006183
A method for sinking a shaft through water-bearing, unstable ground, such as quicksand, using compressed air. The technique involves a sealed iron tube or caisson forced into the ground, with air pressure inside maintained at a level high enough to prevent water and soil from entering the workspace. This process is a precursor to modern caisson and pressurized tunneling methods used in civil engineering and mining.
