Breather
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000764
A vent or opening designed to allow air or gases to enter or exit a sealed enclosure, such as an engine crankcase, gearbox, or hydraulic reservoir, to equalize pressure. This prevents pressure buildup or vacuum formation that could damage seals or impede fluid flow. Breathers often incorporate filters to prevent contaminants from entering the system.
