Accumulator
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-000066
A pressure storage reservoir in a hydraulic system that holds fluid under pressure from an external source. It stores potential energy, typically by compressing an inert gas like nitrogen, and releases this energy back into the system when needed to supplement pump flow or absorb pressure spikes. Common designs include bladder, piston, and diaphragm types, all of which separate the hydraulic fluid from the compressible gas.
