Piston

A component that moves within a cylinder, driven by fluid pressure or creating fluid pressure. It transmits force from expanding gases in an internal combustion engine or compresses fluids in pumps and compressors. Piston rings seal the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall, preventing gas or fluid leakage.
