Accumulator

A device that stores hydraulic energy under pressure, used in drilling and production operations to provide a reserve of fluid power. It consists of a fluid chamber and a gas chamber separated by a piston or bladder. Accumulators supply hydraulic pressure for blowout preventers (BOPs) or other hydraulically actuated equipment, especially during power outages.
