Hydraulic radius
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002939
The ratio of the cross-sectional area of a fluid's flow to the wetted perimeter of the channel or pipe. This geometric property is a key parameter in open-channel flow calculations, such as those using the Manning equation to determine flow velocity. For a full circular pipe, the hydraulic radius is one-quarter of the pipe's diameter.
