Hydraulic radius
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010545
A geometric property of a channel's cross-section, calculated as the ratio of the flow area to the wetted perimeter. It is a measure of the flow efficiency of a channel, influencing flow velocity and resistance. This value is used in empirical formulas like the Manning equation to estimate flow characteristics in rivers and pipes.
