Hydraulic mean depth
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010544
A characteristic length scale used in fluid dynamics, particularly for open channel flow, defined as the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the flow to its wetted perimeter. It represents an average depth for non-rectangular channels. This parameter is used in calculating flow resistance and velocity in natural and artificial channels.
