Increaser
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003001
A pipe fitting that connects a smaller diameter pipe to a larger one, gradually expanding the cross-sectional area of the flow path. Increasers are installed in fluid and gas systems to manage changes in velocity and pressure, for instance at the suction inlet of a pump to prevent cavitation. These fittings are manufactured in concentric form, where the centerline is maintained, or eccentric form, which keeps one side of the pipe flat.
