A device that increases the pressure, force, or amplitude of a system or signal that is already in operation. In fluid power, a pressure booster is a pump that raises the pressure of a liquid or gas from an existing source to a higher level for a specific application. In welding, a voltage booster compensates for voltage drops in long cables to maintain a stable arc.
