Booster
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000402
A secondary explosive device used to amplify the detonation wave from a primary initiator, such as a detonator, to reliably set off less sensitive main explosives in a perforating gun. It provides the necessary energy to propagate the detonation throughout the entire charge string. Boosters are typically placed between the detonator and the perforating charges.
