Detonator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001040
A small explosive device used to initiate the detonation of a larger, less sensitive explosive charge, such as those used in seismic surveys as a source of seismic energy. It contains a primary explosive that is highly sensitive to heat, shock, or electricity, creating a shock wave that triggers the main charge. Detonators are designed with safety features to prevent accidental initiation.
