A system of pipes designed to remove wastewater and sewage from a building and to vent sewer gases to the outside. This network prevents the buildup of harmful gases within the plumbing system and maintains atmospheric pressure in the drain lines. Common materials for DWV piping include PVC, ABS, and cast iron.
