Newton's first law

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003886

A fundamental principle of classical mechanics stating that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced external force. This law is also known as the law of inertia. It forms the basis for understanding the behavior of objects in the absence of net forces.
