Conjugate redox pair
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001303
A pair of chemical species that are interconverted by the gain or loss of electrons in a redox (reduction-oxidation) reaction. One species acts as the oxidizing agent and is reduced, while the other acts as the reducing agent and is oxidized. For example, in the reaction of Fe3+ with an electron to form Fe2+, Fe3+/Fe2+ constitutes a conjugate redox pair.
