Exhaust velocity

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002114

The speed at which combustion gases exit the nozzle of a jet engine or rocket motor. This velocity directly influences the thrust produced by the engine, as described by Newton's third law of motion. Higher exhaust velocities generally result in greater thrust for a given mass flow rate of propellant.
