Fusion rocket
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002489
A theoretical propulsion system for spacecraft that generates thrust by harnessing energy from nuclear fusion reactions. It involves fusing light atomic nuclei, such as deuterium and tritium, to release vast amounts of energy, which then heats a propellant to extreme temperatures. This heated propellant is expelled at high velocity to produce thrust, offering much higher specific impulse than chemical rockets.
