Nuclear-electric rocket

Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003949

A propulsion system that uses a nuclear reactor to generate electricity, which then powers an electric thruster to produce thrust. The electric thruster, such as an ion or Hall effect thruster, expels a propellant at very high velocities. This system offers high specific impulse, making it suitable for long-duration space missions requiring efficient propellant use.
