Gas generator

A component in a turbofan or turbojet engine that produces hot, high-pressure gas to drive the turbine section. It consists of a compressor, combustor, and high-pressure turbine. The gas generator's output powers both the fan (in turbofans) and the low-pressure turbine, which in turn drives the compressor.
