Gas cap
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-002517
A sealed cover for the filler neck of a vehicle's fuel tank, preventing fuel spillage and evaporation. It also maintains pressure within the fuel system and stops contaminants like dirt and water from entering the tank. Modern gas caps are a component of the vehicle's evaporative emission control (EVAP) system, and a loose or faulty cap can trigger a check engine light.
