A Variable Swirl Valve or Variable Stator Vane, a component used in internal combustion engines or gas turbines. In an intake manifold, a VSV is a butterfly valve that partially closes at low engine speeds to increase air velocity and induce swirl, improving the air-fuel mixture. In a gas turbine compressor, variable stator vanes are airfoils that pivot to control airflow angle onto the rotor blades, maintaining efficiency across a wide operational range.
