Cotillion

A woven fabric, originally made of wool, characterized by a ribbed or corded surface structure. It was popular during the 18th and 19th centuries for making women's dresses, petticoats, and furnishings. The name is derived from a lively French dance, and the fabric was often used for the elaborate gowns worn at such events.
