Cross lay

A pre-connected hoseline stored on a fire engine in a transverse compartment, allowing it to be deployed from either side of the apparatus. This arrangement provides rapid access to an initial attack line regardless of how the engine is positioned relative to a fire hydrant or the fire itself. Cross lay beds are typically configured with 150 to 250 feet of 1.75-inch or 2-inch attack hose.
