Cross junction
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001448
A place where two railway lines cross each other at the same level without any connecting points, so trains on each line pass straight through and cannot change to the other. The crossing is built as a diamond of rails with flangeways, and signals or interlocking keep two trains from fouling it at once. It is the same layout as a diamond crossing or flat crossing.
