Level junction

An intersection where two or more railway lines cross each other at the same grade, without the use of bridges or tunnels. The crossing point itself is formed by a set of fixed rails known as a diamond or frog. Movement over the junction is controlled by signals to prevent conflicts between trains on the intersecting routes.
