Diamond cross

A decorative pattern in weaving or knitting characterized by intersecting diagonal lines that form a lattice of diamond or lozenge shapes. This design is achieved by manipulating the warp and weft threads in a specific sequence on a loom or by programming specific needle actions on a knitting machine. The pattern is a feature of certain traditional textiles, such as argyle knits where it forms the primary background grid, and in some twill weaves.
