Dead furrow
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-001587
A depression left in a field after plowing, formed where two adjacent furrows are turned away from each other, leaving an unplowed strip or a low spot. This occurs when a plow completes a pass and begins a new one in the opposite direction, creating a visible line across the field. Dead furrows can sometimes lead to drainage issues or uneven seedbeds.
