Dead load

The static, permanent weight of a structure itself, including all fixed components such as walls, floors, roofs, and built-in fixtures. This load remains constant over time and does not change in position or magnitude. Engineers calculate dead loads to determine the foundational and structural requirements for a building, often expressed in pounds per square foot or kilonewtons.
