Design load

The total load that a structure or structural element is engineered to safely support, encompassing dead loads, live loads, environmental loads, and other forces. This value is determined by applying safety factors to anticipated service loads, as specified by building codes and engineering standards. Structural components are sized to withstand these design loads without exceeding allowable stresses.
