The characteristic of a spacecraft or its components to break up and burn up completely upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. This design consideration aims to prevent debris from reaching the ground and posing a hazard to populated areas. Space agencies establish specific demisability requirements for objects re-entering from orbit.
