Depressant

A chemical reagent used in mineral flotation processes to selectively inhibit the flotation of certain minerals, allowing others to be concentrated. It works by adsorbing onto the surface of the unwanted mineral, making it less hydrophobic. Common depressants include sodium cyanide for sulfide minerals and starch for gangue minerals.
