A colloquial name given by 18th and 19th-century quarrymen to a specific type of trilobite fossil, Calymene blumenbachii, found in the Silurian limestone of the Dudley and Wren's Nest area in England. These well-preserved fossils were so abundant that they were collected and sold as curiosities, becoming an emblem of the town during the Industrial Revolution. The fossil is also known as the 'Dudley bug' or 'Dudley locust'.
